建西镇位于福建省顺昌县东南部，原名大埠岭。1958年起，这一带成为建西林区的中心区，1964年设建西县，1970年撤县并入顺昌县，1977年6月设建西镇。鹰厦铁路的建西站设在镇内，316国道和528国道也经过境内。[1][4][5][6]

历史沿革[edit]

建西镇原名大埠岭。“建西”之名，据博雅地名网，因地处建瓯西部而来，并与1958年设立的建瓯西部林区筹备处有关。[2][5]

林区建设从1958年持续到1963年，大埠岭中心区陆续建成办公楼、职工宿舍、医院、学校等一百二十余幢砖木结构楼房，并修建了一条中心街道。1959年12月，林区改由南平专署建西林业局管理。[5][6]

1964年初，连接建西贮木场与鹰厦铁路的森林铁路竣工。同年7月1日，建西县正式成立，县政府驻地在大埠岭。[2][5][6]

建西县按县一级设置机构，到1970年7月，其建制取消，辖境重归顺昌县。1971年，建西的黄道与下坑两家松脂化工厂合并为林化厂，迁到县城区；上世纪九十年代，该厂逐渐淡出。[6][7]

设镇的时间是1977年6月；到2006年，际会乡也并入其中。[4][2]

地理环境[edit]

建西镇地处顺昌县东南隅，离县城约24千米。北与岚下乡交界，西北靠埔上镇，西南与洋口镇相邻，东南与延平区峡阳镇为邻，东邻大历镇。[2][4]

鹰厦铁路穿过镇域，建西站设于此。316国道与528国道分别靠近和穿过境内。[1][3]

人口民族[edit]

2021年末，全镇常住总人口5236人。百度百科另载2019年末户籍人口15942人，统计口径与此不同。[1][4]

经济[edit]

农业以柑橘和烟叶为主。竹木加工是镇内的重要产业，建西竹木加工园区2001年5月设立，园区里的企业加工的主要是工艺竹木制品、细木工板以及指接板。[1][8]

文化[edit]

镇内仍保留着不少林区时期的建筑，是建西历史的一部分。[1]

建西业余举重学校自1982年起被定为省级举重传统校，至今已有40多人成为国家级或省级举重运动员，其中张国政在2004年雅典奥运会上获得69公斤级金牌。[8]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇域内有县级文物保护单位十二处。其中，殷坑观音桥在安下村，双溪临水宫在际会村，谢屯兴隆桥在谢屯村。[1]
