和勤社区是福建省南平市顺昌县双溪街道下辖的社区，在县城关西部，居委会1963年9月设立。社区名取自辖区内两条旧弄堂的名字，居民区至今仍以平房与窄巷为主，新建的商住楼多集中在几条主要街道两侧。[1]

地名由来[edit]

居委会辖区内曾有“和平弄”与“勤俭弄”两条道路，各取一字，合成和勤之名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1963年9月，和勤居委会设立，此后归双溪街道办事处管辖。1966年一度改称“勤俭居委会”，1981年恢复原名，当时属双溪镇。2006年5月，双溪镇与水南镇并入新设的双溪街道，社区随之改隶双溪街道。[1]

地理环境[edit]

社区东至南北街，西到西门果场、贵岭电站一带，南临富金湖，北与北门社区相邻。辖区南北较短、东西较长，整体呈长方形喇叭状。[2]

人口[edit]

博雅地名网称，常住人口为2587户、7459人，辖区面积8平方公里；同一页又说总人口约一万多人，两处数字并不一致。[2]

城市改造[edit]

社区正处于新旧城市改造之中。南北街、批发一街、批发二街两侧是现代商住楼群，其余大部分仍是祖辈留下的平房，并有窄窄的巷道与小庭院式的居住区。[2]
