美溪村位于小湖镇以东约20公里，辖2个自然村。村名的来由是相传宋代童氏生有五子，其长子名美，在此建村，故称美溪。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1984年，大队部迁到本村，村民委员会名称定为美溪村，沿用至今。此前1958年建大队，1956年划归建阳县。[1]
更早的情形是：1944年设美溪保，1940年隶属水吉县下墘乡，1913年归建瓯县小湖乡。1949年另有乡制设立。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
村前有一株古樟，名为「美溪倒插樟」，树龄据称已有上千年，主干直径约一米，枝叶繁茂。[2]
