马坑村位于小湖镇东南方向约2.5公里，辖3个自然村，村民收入以种植业为主。村名的来由是旧时附近设有养马之处，马匹常在这片地势稍低的地段奔跑，村因此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1984年设为马坑村村民委员会，名称沿用至今；1958年属小湖公社，那时称马坑大队。[1]

早先此地属建瓯县禾义里的小湖乡一带，其后归水吉县与小湖区管辖，1956年并入建阳县；这一时期（1940年至1956年）的乡级建制名为马坑乡。[1]

2023年10月入选「2023年度南平市绿盈乡村中级版村庄」名单。[1]

经济[edit]

镇内的小湖杨梅，据博雅地名网，其产地为本村的回瑶，此种杨梅又称“回瑶仔”杨梅，明清时期已有名声。[1][2]
