小湖镇位于福建省南平市建阳区东南部，南浦溪沿岸，镇人民政府设在小湖村。镇名的来历与溪流有关：宋代南浦溪流经镇南，两岸峭壁夹峙如门，溪水受阻后漫积成湖，故称小湖；另有一说，村旁有壶山，“湖”与“壶”音近。[1][2][4]

镇域面积为240.38平方千米，205国道从镇区经过，距建阳城区约22公里。[2][4]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地属瓯宁县禾义里，元、明、清仍属瓯宁县。[2][5] 1913年改属建瓯县，1940年又属水吉县。[2]

1956年起此地改归建阳县管辖，组织形式称小湖人民公社；1958年底设小湖公社，1959年一度更名幸福公社。[2]

1984年由公社改设小湖乡，1993年7月起改称小湖镇，延续至今。[2][5]

2018年6月，镇获评「福建省2015-2017年度省级文明村镇」；2021年，又获评「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇」。[3][2]

地理环境[edit]

地形狭长，四周高山环抱，中部有小湖、鸿庇两处盆地。庵山为镇内最高峰，海拔1020米；马坑村一带最低，海拔约130米。[2]

这里为亚热带湿润季风气候，雨量年均约1697毫米，且大多落在4月至6月之间。[2]

镇内河流归南浦溪水系。溪水先由董步村入境，再经祝中村、大湖村，末了在小湖境内的黄塘甲离开；镇内河段约15千米，较大的支流为下增溪。[2]

人口民族[edit]

2011年末，全镇总人口为19623人，汉族19327人，另有畲、苗、回、黎、彝5个少数民族共296人。[2]

经济[edit]

农作物中，茶叶、莲子与食用菌较为突出，小湖杨梅是镇里的果品之一。博雅地名网称其别名“回瑶仔”杨梅，明清时期已有名声。[2][4]
