地名由来[edit]
村名与镇名同出于宋时的莒潭。村子坐落在麻阳溪与书坊溪的交汇处，因此得名莒口。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
宋至清代，此地属崇泰里，里下分崇夏、博爱、市心三保。1949年后归第四区莒口乡，1953年划入后山区，1958年后称莒口大队，1984年转为村民委员会建制，延续至今。[1]
2024年1月，莒口村获评「2023年福建省卫生村」；同年2月，进入「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象之列。[4]
经济[edit]
村民以农业为主业，葡萄种植、养鸭和食用菌栽培较为发达。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
圣迹寺位于村内佛迹岭的半山腰。据百度百科，南宗禅僧马祖道一曾在此辟寺；寺中大殿为乾隆二十七年（1762年）重建，1991年又新建大雄宝殿。圣迹寺属县一级文物。[2][3]
