历史沿革[edit]
宋至清代此地称童游里。民国时期这里先设童游乡，继而改成童游区，1940年又复设童游乡。1958年起，童游是城关公社下的一个大队。1973年，公社驻地从县城搬到童游，1982年，因驻地村名而改名为童游公社。1984年改设为乡，1992年12月又升为镇。[3]
2002年12月，童游镇撤销，改为童游街道办事处。据百度百科，以崇阳溪为界，原童游镇的六个村改归潭城街道，原潭城镇的一个社区和一个村则改归童游街道。博雅地名网则以2003年1月1日为街道正式成立的日子。[5][4]
2022年2月23日，南平市政府决定把原童游街道分出崇阳、崇泰两个街道，童游之名仍保留在分设后的街道上。[3]
地名由来[edit]
相传南宋绍兴年间，有人重建一座拱桥，桥落成那天，七名采药童子在桥上嬉游，之后升天而去。人们便把此桥叫作童游桥，所在的里叫童游里，元、明、清各代沿用此名。[2][6]

崇阳溪穿过街道，溪东的童游村与溪西的溪口村分居两岸。[6][7] 街道属亚热带季风气候，年降水量在1600毫米以上。[4]
境内有316、205国道经过，横南铁路穿过，浦南高速公路经过并设有通道口和服务区，距武夷山机场约40公里。[4]

博雅地名网记街道的八大主导产业，依次为苗木花卉、优质稻、食用菌、养殖、水果、蔬菜、烟叶和葡萄。[4] 工业门类以建材、机械、化工、食品和竹木加工为主。[4]
名胜古迹[edit]
溪口村内的碗窑遗址，年代为明代，是县级文物保护单位。[7][8]
维基百科的建阳区条目称，南宋嘉定年间，县学就设在童游文庙。[9]
著名人物[edit]
博雅地名网称宋慈（1186～1249）、僧惠崇和宋咸都出于童游，又列游九言、蔡元定、蔡渊、吕胜己、叶味道为相关人物。[2][4]
现代人物中，陈顺通曾创建建阳县第一个中央党支部；吕慕祥获「上甘岭战役特级战斗英雄」称号。[4]
