下井村是炉下镇下辖的行政村，面积很小，未设村民小组，也没有自然村。村名因南北两端各有一口古井而来。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村子南北方向各有一口古井，因此得名下井。据《1993年南平市志·地名志》所载，此前这里曾是下井农合站，沿用“下井”二字。[1]

设立沿革[edit]

1976年前，此地是炉下行政村的一个自然村。1976年后，炉下公社把它单列出来，设为农科站。2005年5月，经上级批准设立下井村。[2]

人口与面积[edit]

2011年末，村内共283人，常住278人，流动5人，全部为汉族。全村面积0.19平方千米。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，下井村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国23年（1934年）隶属南平县第六区炉溪乡，1941年仍属炉溪乡，1943年改属炉湄乡，1949年归第四区。1958年划入东方红（夏道）人民公社，设下井生产队；1961年归炉下公社。20世纪70年代改设下井农合站，2004年独立，改称下井村民委员会。[1]
