蛇村是炉下镇下辖的行政村，村委会驻地在蛇村，村名取自所在山脉的形状。全村设7个村民小组，下辖大磊口、芹菜洋和岭兜三个自然村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据《1993年南平市志·地名志》所载，村名与所在山脉的形状有关，山脉走势如蛇。[1]

人口与地理[edit]

2011年末，村中共1426人，男性786人，女性640人，全体为汉族。全村面积19.71平方千米，陆地19.56平方千米，另有水域0.15平方千米。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明代此地属杜溪里，清代沿袭。1934年划入南平县第六区炉溪乡，1941年设蛇村保。1943年改属炉湄乡，1949年归第四区炉下乡。1958年由东方红（夏道）人民公社管辖，设蛇村大队；1961年归炉下公社，1984年改属炉下乡。[1]
