棚下村隶属延平区塔前镇，与赤坑村、大坪村相邻。村名的来历是先人在此搭棚栖身，后人口渐多，分散建村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明洪武元年（1368）此地归大源内里，清代沿袭旧制。1940年隶第一区白塔乡，下设棚下保；1943年改属菖白乡。1949年划为第五区塔前乡，1952年改归第十区，1956年改属西芹区。1958年并入火车头（西芹）公社，称棚下大队；1961年改归土堡公社，1984年改设土堡乡，1989年属塔前乡，1993年撤乡建镇后改属塔前镇。[1]

文物与产业[edit]

「上坑会师旧址」为1947年遗迹，位于棚下村，见于2012年延平区公布的文物普查名录。[3]

村中发展花卉种植，辖区内的一家花卉企业经营生产、加工与销售。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2023年10月，棚下村入选2023年度南平市「绿盈乡村」中级版村庄名单。[1]
