太平社区位于太平镇中心区，是全镇唯一的社区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区名称取自《1993年南平市志·地名志》的记载：此地原名蔡埕，因方言读音相近而改称太平。[2]

社区的前身是太平联社，居民以水上运输、捕鱼、撑船捎排和手工业为生。1992年3月设太平居民委员会，2002年改为太平社区居民委员会。[2]
