埂头村是延平区王台镇下辖的行政村，位于镇域北部，距集镇约8公里。村名的来历：村庄建在田垄土堤的上方，故名。[1]

博雅地名网称，清朝中叶埂头村读书人较多，是一个典型的「秀才村」，村民多姓上官。[1]
上官南彰（学名上官淑）是水井窠（今西坑）人，清乾隆三十四年（1769年）出任建宁府事，乾隆帝为其题写「励节松筠」四字。[1]
