大笏村位于大横镇东部，在建溪河东岸的高山地区，海拔约500米，距集镇约6公里，距南平市区约35公里。[1][3]

村名的来历与地势有关，据说地形像明代的笏板。清朝时此地归汾常里；东风公社设立于1958年，此后本村称大笏大队，1984年才改为村民委员会建制。[3]

村里种植水蜜桃和锥栗，生产与销售连成一条龙。[1]
