常坑村位于大横镇西北部，距南平市区约8公里，距大横集镇约18公里。205国道与浦南高速穿村而过，浦南高速在此设有互通口。[1][3][4]
村辖3个村民小组。清朝顺治年间，此地归演仙下里管辖，1941年又称常坑保。村级建制始于1962年，1984年起由村民委员会管理，1992年划归大横镇。[2][3]
