上楼村是大横镇的高山革命老区村，主村海拔690米。革命战争时期，本村曾是建瓯县委所在地。[1][2]

村里是闽北第一个红色电台的诞生地。全村辖8个自然村，分别为斑竹岐、下元、上元、上庄、九晶、科甲、马腰与上楼本村，共8个村民小组，各处分布零散，彼此相距较远。[2]
