折竹村位于南山镇东南部，面积为1.0378万亩，共266户、1138人，下设6个村民小组。村名因此地多竹而得名。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村名的来历，据博雅地名网所引：此地多竹，故名。明洪武元年（1368年）属普安里，清代沿袭。民国时期此地为折竹保，隶属大凤镇；1946年改称竹溪保，属凤山镇。1949年归第二区凤山镇；1954年设折竹乡，1956年归大凤区。1958年称折竹大队，1961年改属江边公社，1963年并入大凤公社，1984年属大凤乡，1991年划归南山镇。[1][2]

文化[edit]

1935年8月至9月间，闽北独立师红三团李子平部由赤门方向转战到折竹，村中有两人在此期间加入红军。1987年，折竹村被福建省评定为老区村。[1][2]
