博雅地名网释其名：「麦」指小麦，「源」指富屯溪，村名即富屯溪畔种有小麦的小聚落之意。[1]

历史沿革[edit]
博雅地名网的历史沿革一节记为1969年分出，设为知识青年插队的新村，1984年改称麦源村民委员会；概况一节则作1970年的「五七」新村，1980年复为行政村。[1]
