跃村位于西芹镇驻地南偏西约6千米，辖跃村、鱼田地2个自然村。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

明洪武元年（1368年）属大外里，清代仍之。民国时期归南洲乡，称跃坑保，1946年改称跃村保。1950年设跃村乡，1956年改称湖兴乡，1958年并入火车头（西芹）人民公社，1961年改属南洲公社，1963年合并入西芹公社，1984年改为今名。[3][2]

地名由来[edit]

因村庄产中药，村名原作药村，后改称跃村。[4]

文化[edit]

村内有天柱山、观音堂等景点。[2]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月将跃村列为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
