西岩村位于西芹镇驻地西南部约9.2千米，海拔520米，村委会驻西岩。村内辖西岩、东边、西岩坑、余思坑、小塔前5个自然村，1984年改为今名。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明洪武元年（1368年）属大外里，清代仍之。民国30年（1941年）此地先属西洋乡，称余西保；1949年改称西岩乡。1958年并入火车头（西芹）人民公社，1961年转属峰坪公社，1963年回归西芹公社。[3][2]

地名由来[edit]

村子下游一片岩石，古称“西天岩石”，村名由此而来。[4]

文化[edit]

福建省农业农村厅于2022年10月认定西岩村为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]
