坪东村是秀峰乡的行政村，位于乡境东部，面积3.8平方千米。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村名取自坪洄的首字，因村庄位于东侧，故称坪东。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期此地属坪回乡，1939年编入维新乡的坪回保。1950年归第六区管辖，仍称坪回乡。1958年公社化时析出，因位于东边而定名坪东大队，隶长乐公社。1984年改设坪东村委会。[1][2]

村民以种植蜜柚、经营林木为主，外出务工的村民多经营家具和面包。[1]
