东川村位于安厚镇西北部，在灵通山东麓，境内有东川水库，距镇政府约4公里，辖12个自然村、11个村民小组。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村名由东陂与顶村合并而来。当时两村合称“东村乡”，因闽南话中“村”与“川”读音相近，遂称东川村。[1]

1984年改为东川村委会。1958年起为安厚公社辖下的东川大队；1950年村属第五区东川乡，1945年则属平南乡东陂保。[1]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办授予东川村「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]

地理环境[edit]

东川水库是一座中型水库，位于村境之内。村西与大溪镇相邻，距灵通山只隔一山。[1]
