和溪社区隶属南靖县和溪镇，坐落于镇区中心。社区面积约1.2平方千米，户籍人口1406人。[1][2]

社区的地名来历，据传是元末明初郑氏迁来开基时，九龙江西溪上游的四条小溪在此汇成一条大溪。[1][4] 社区内设有中学、省级示范小学、幼儿园和县级医院，南、中、北街一带的商铺有三百多间，另有一座新恒辉综合大市场。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前，这里归和溪郎和溪保管辖，解放初改设和溪乡。合作化阶段设有建桥高级社，人民公社化后改设和溪居委会。[3] 1987年，改称和溪社区居民委员会。[3]

社会事业[edit]

据博雅地名网，社区内有行政事业单位31家，有中学一所、省级示范小学两所、幼儿园两所，另有县级医院一所，私营企业十家。[2]

社区曾获漳州市老龄委授予的「老年教育示范校」称号；由漳州市委组织部、市文明办、市民政局、市综治办认定为「社区建设示范社区」；县委还授予「先进基层党组织」称号。[2]
