新村是南靖县金山镇下辖的山区行政村，位于县境西北部，在石狮尖山麓的山谷地带。石狮尖山海拔1032米。村子距镇政府约20公里，距县城67公里，有15公里水泥道路与国道319线相连。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

此地原无古老村庄，村民是近百年来迁居而来，故名新村。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

解放后设新村乡，1958年起为新村大队（公社化后），1984年改设新村村委会。[2]

姓氏与居住[edit]

村中有刘、林、庄、许、谢、廖六个姓氏集居。刘氏的新村始祖为二世兴隆公，他由和溪迁入；林氏由龙岩县迁入，始祖为林广明。[1]

建筑与民俗[edit]

村中多为土木结构的古朴房屋，另有两座小型土圆楼。村民有舞龙、舞狮和竹马戏，竹马戏的故事主题为昭君和番。[1]

产业[edit]

村中林地约3.8万亩，出产杉、松、木、竹，历来以水稻、水果为经济来源。近年居民利用高山气候种植反季节菜、脐橙、花卉和茶叶，也有部分运输和外出务工业务。[1]
