历史沿革[edit]
清代，此地归诏安县五都三图的碧浦保管辖。民国时期隶属东山县东南乡，乡内辖有十个保。东山解放后，这里于1950年划入第二区，1958年改设人民公社，1984年社改乡称陈城乡，1990年撤乡设镇，定名陈城镇。[2][1]
陈城之名据博雅地名网所载与一圈土城有关：早年海盗常来，姓陈的开基者便在村落四周筑城自卫，村因而称陈城。[2]
地理环境[edit]
镇域东临台湾海峡，南面临南海，西隔诏安湾与诏安县相望，北与西埔镇接壤。区域面积据百度百科为62.59平方千米，博雅地名网则作约56平方公里，海岸线长53公里。[4][2]
陈城镇矿产资源有优质硅砂矿，储量一亿多吨，并有辉绿岩与花岗岩。[3]
人口[edit]
据百度百科，陈城镇2019年末户籍人口为33696人。东山县人民政府的概况页作人口3.8万人，博雅地名网则作约3.2万人。[4][1][2]
经济[edit]
陈城镇兼为农业重镇与渔业重镇，有芦笋基地约1.1万亩，设施农业与果蔬种植也占一定比重。境内澳角、宫前两个国家一级渔港与岐下国家二级渔港并存。[3][1]
名胜古迹[edit]
谷文昌墓位于陈城镇赤山林场内的谷文昌纪念园中。谷文昌于1981年1月在漳州病逝，1987年骨灰葬于他亲手建起的赤山林场。[2]
陈城村内的四面佛、顶城古城堡等文物古迹，见陈城村条目。东山县人民政府称陈城镇是谷文昌精神的发祥地。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2025年3月，陈城镇被认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范乡镇」；2021年5月，入选「2022年度福建省乡村振兴示范乡镇」创建名单；2020年12月，被福建省爱卫办命名为「福建省卫生乡镇」；2008年4月，获评「第七批全国环境优美乡镇」。[2]
据东山县人民政府，陈城镇先后被评为「福建省百强乡镇」、「福建省渔业十强镇」，并获漳州市「先进基层党组织」、「五好乡镇党委」等称号。[1]
