湖美村位于白洋乡西南部，省道诏平线穿村而过。村部所在的湖洋美村简称湖美，村名因此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1993年7月，湖美由西潭乡改属白洋乡，成为湖美村。此前的1984年10月，政社分开后这里设为西潭乡湖美村委会。1958年至1959年间，这里先后隶属幸福人民公社和红旗人民公社的湖美大队，1959年后改称西潭人民公社湖美大队。解放初属第三区湖美乡，1952年划入第六区，1955年改属西潭区。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

湖美河东梁氏吴妈墓为元代古墓葬，位于村内狗头望山缓坡，2016年6月28日列为县级文物保护单位（诏安县第十六批）。[1][2]
