元中村是福建省漳州市诏安县太平镇下辖的行政村，村委会设在本村。村内有一所小学，以客家话为主要语言，森林覆盖率在90%以上。村名的来历是清代这一带有大、小元中两村，后合称大元中片村，1958年成立大队时仍以片村名称命名。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

清朝时，这一带分有大元中和小元中两个村落，之后统称为大元中片村。1958年设立生产大队，即以片村的名称定名，故称元中。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年至1951年4月为第五区元中乡，1955年6月至1956年5月归太平区元中乡，1958年9月并入团结人民公社元中大队。1961年5月改隶大布公社太平区，1964年4月回归太平公社。1984年10月置太平乡元中村委会。[1]
