历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网所载地名由来，唐初南诏国的使者路过此地，觉得景致与本国相近，故以“南诏”为名。[1]
唐朝公元686年，此地设南诏堡，博雅地名网称其历史已有一千三百多年。[3]
明嘉靖九年（1530年），诏安县自漳浦县析出原二、三、四、五都之地而置。县城利用的是弘治十七年（1504年）扩建的南诏守御千户所城，城墙开四座城门。[4]
明代和清代，县城的主要街道上陆续立起牌坊。据维基百科，城内现存石牌坊八座，其中明代牌坊七座。[4]1996年，这一组牌坊作为整体进入福建省第四批文物保护单位之列。[5]
地理环境[edit]
镇上的制高点是良峰山，山形被说成渔翁撒网的样子，东溪流经镇区边缘。[3]
名胜古迹[edit]
南诏镇明代石牌坊群共七座，其中包括关帝坊、诰敕申貤坊、百岁坊、夺锦坊、天宠重褒坊、冏卿貤典坊和父子进士坊，均为花岗岩仿木结构。[4]
此坊的建成时间为1602年，正值明万历年间，是为敕赠直大夫沈一鲤而立，通高9.6米，宽9.5米，位于东门中街西侧。[5]
诏安文昌宫的前身是明代设立的漳潮巡检司衙署；1871年（清同治十年）在旧址上改建成文昌宫，现为诏安县博物馆，属福建省文物保护单位。[6]
城内街上的南诏许氏家庙建于明弘治年间（1488年至1505年）；2013年，它被列入福建省第八批省级文物保护名录。[7]
东岳庙址位于东关街，建于明代，1593年建成，为县级文物保护单位。[8]
博雅地名网列出的南诏镇古建筑群，还包括城隍庙、武庙（俗称关帝庙）、西亭观音庵和功臣庙址等。城隍庙与武庙为县级文物保护单位，其中武庙始建于明代嘉靖年间，功臣庙址始建于宋代。[3]
