竹屿社区是漳浦县漳浦盐场辖下的社区[3]，紧邻雄厝村[2]。县政府行政区划一览表将它写作竹屿居委会[4]。

此地先名锦屿，后因岛上清竹成林而改名竹屿；1985年起全村按城镇居民对待，设立居委会[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

据载，明代这里是一处渔港，后由当地出身的一位吏部尚书带头建城，因此得名锦屿[1]。

顺治十八年（1661年）以防备海盗为由，朝廷下令迁界，锦屿成为界外之地，住户全部搬离[1]。

复界之后的1681年，居民陆续返回。那时岛上一片凄凉，清竹密布，从海上望去像一根横放的竹竿，人们便把它叫作竹屿[1][2]。

1985年8月，县政府同意全村按城镇居民对待，随后设立居委会，此名称延续至今[1]。
