下堀村位于古雷镇北部，与古雷村、港口村、油沃村、西林村等村相邻，村民半渔半农。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村庄所在地势四周高、中间低，本地方言称这类地方为「堀」；村子又在祖厝之下，因而得名。[1]
村庄由东山县转属漳浦县的时间为1955年11月，当时归古雷地区管辖。1958年9月划入杜浔公社古雷管理区的下东大队，1961年7月转由古雷公社管理，改称下堀大队；1984年起撤社建乡，此村遂为古雷乡（后改镇）下辖的下堀村。[1]
地理环境[edit]
前江一侧的滩涂以养殖牡蛎、对虾和泥蚶为主，村中设有一处养鳗场；后江沙滩则有鲍鱼养殖场。耕地以农地为主，种植番薯、黄豆、花生，也种芦笋、葱蒜等蔬菜，村中另有葱头加工场。[1]
