河墘村位于沙西镇中部，是镇政府驻地，村落背靠山坡，面向东山湾。[2][3]
村辖河墘、普前、西庄、山头四个自然村，总人口3430人（百度百科）。[3]
2019年12月，村子进入「第一批国家森林乡村」名单。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
因开基的村庄建在阿边溪河流域边上，“边”字在当地方言中读作“墘”，故取名河墘。[1]
宋时村属常乐乡绥康下里，明时归十都，清初为铜山营镇标左营屿前保。民国初年改隶南区，1928年转第二自治区，1940年属屿头乡的河墘保与顶三保。[1]
解放后村属十二区河墘乡，1955年12月划归杜浔区河墘乡，一度并入屿头乡。1958年属杜浔公社沙西管理区，设河墘大队；1961年改属沙西公社，大队名不变。1984年9月撤社设乡，改称河墘村。[1]
地理环境[edit]
阿边溪发源于磨石山，从北面流经村境，向西南在西庄社东入海。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
旧时普前社是一处港口，船只可停到妈祖庙前。妈祖庙至今尚存，列为县级文物，其灯火曾为海上船只导航。[2][3]
