鳌西村位于福建省漳州市漳浦县六鳌镇中部，东邻鳌东村，南邻下寮村，北邻大澳村，西临浮头湾。明代已有居民在此聚居，始建于明代的蔡氏、张氏祠堂都在村中。1984年9月，原鳌中大队分设鳌东、鳌西两村，鳌西村现辖12个村民小组。[1]

鳌西的政区沿革与鳌东相同。1984年9月，从原鳌中大队中分出，设立鳌西村。[2]

姓氏[edit]

村里有9个姓氏，以蔡、陈、张为主，其次为林、魏、曾、罗、郑、徐。蔡、张两姓大多是明代军籍人士的后裔，始祖来自兴化府的莆田、仙游一带；陈姓始祖为明代迁来的佛昙大坑人。[2]

渔业与海岛[edit]

渔业是村里的经济支柱，包括捕捞与紫菜养殖，另有芦笋、番薯、花生等作物。自古以来，村中渔民就在六鳌半岛以南的横屿、莱屿、红屿等岛屿及沙洲一带捕捞，并采集紫菜、红菜与螺贝，“六鳌紫菜”的名声即由此而来。莱屿上有妈祖庙，红屿上则供着大伯爷，渔民多信奉此庙。[2]

文物古迹[edit]

关帝庙位于六鳌城下，建于明代中期，明隆庆五年（1571年）由六鳌人、进士郑恭撰文立碑纪念，古城的城门至今仍留有两处。村中另有百年古榕树六棵，分布在六鳌城下至北井边一带。[2]
