历史沿革[edit]
宋代，村域隶属漳浦县二十三都，当时的名称为楼下。民国初年隶属以佛昙为中心的外东区。1935年，楼下保属楼下联保；1940年，楼下保编入前江乡；1944年，前江乡并入前坪乡。[2]
新中国成立后，1950年10月设楼下乡，1956年楼下乡仍管辖刘下、文山两村。1958年9月，楼下成为佛昙公社楼下管理区的生产大队。1984年9月，生产大队改为村，因闽南音笔误，「楼下」写作「刘下」，沿用至今。[2]
地理环境[edit]
村域地形属丘陵地带，四面环山，地势较缓，土壤为古代火山喷发留下的紫黑色火山灰土。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
2011年末的记录是872户、2991人，外来约32人；1645名劳力中，有838人在外经商或打工。[2]
据乡镇政府网站所载，村内杨梅为特色产品，2019年获评市级「一村一品」专业村。[3]
历史人物[edit]
蔡姓在宋建炎元年（1127年）迁来开基，其祖籍在赤岭乡蔡坑。开基始祖蔡煜为理学家蔡元鼎的第十代后人。[2]
