西厝村在盘陀镇西部，北接东林村，南接割埔村，东面与仓里村、盘陀村相邻。村西有九曲溪流过，向东注入盘陀溪。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村名取自西山、旧厝两个自然村，各取一字而成。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地属八都西山保，民国时期属盘陀乡下辖的长林保。解放初期属和坑乡，1958年归盘陀管理区和坑大队，1961年划入盘陀公社。[3]

1989年，以西山、胡厝、旧厝、破楼、斗桥等自然村设立本村；1992年2月改属盘陀镇。[1][3]

西山为陈姓聚居地，旧厝为李姓聚居地，胡厝为胡姓聚居地。[2]

风俗与古迹[edit]

元宵节前后，西山社举行迎神赛会，由青年男子抬神像在水田中竞跑，称作“走水王”。[2]

旧厝社清末光绪年间已有人信奉基督教，并建有教堂。[2]

旧厝社附近有一段三合土城遗迹，周长约500米。文物工作者依据墙基夯土中的明代瓷片判断，此城应为正统六年（1441年）所建的盘陀巡检司城。村中另有商周时代遗址。[2]
