东山村是石榴镇下辖的行政村，位于镇东北部，距镇区约7公里，北隔栖云山与南浦乡相望。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代为在坊的东山保。民国29年属北岭乡东山保，民国33年北岭乡撤销，东山保改属象牙乡。新中国初期设东山乡，1958年9月设石榴公社东山大队，即今村的前身。[1]

自然村与姓氏[edit]

村辖埔仔圩、祠里、大路、申内、山坪顶、上营与东山，共7个自然村。村民以薛姓为多，另有少数许姓。[1]

古迹与风俗[edit]

明代探花、南京礼部尚书林士章与夫人柳氏的合葬墓在村中“水吼”山下。村中有薛氏大祖祠，已改作老人活动中心使用，另有妈祖庙一座。[1]

人物[edit]

明成化年间举人黄贞，曾任山西平阳府通判。[1]

薛佛记（1793～1825年）为上营社人，清代中叶在新加坡经营企业，是福建商帮的首领。其孙薛有礼于光绪七年在新加坡创办《叻报》，光绪十八年当选新加坡议员。[1]
