后辽村位于霞美镇南部，与下蔡村、前梧村、北江村等相邻，村中有一片浅海和滩涂。村名早年写作后寮，因早期村民在山下搭寮棚居住、寮棚背靠山而得名，后来为书写方便改作后辽[1]。
沿革[edit]
民国时期属霞美乡的后寮保。新中国初期归第四区旧镇区的北江乡管辖。1958年9月划入旧镇公社北江管理区；1961年7月设后寮大队，隶溪仔墟公社；1964年溪仔墟公社并入霞美，后寮大队改属霞美公社。1984年称霞美乡后寮村，1990年随乡改镇。[1]
经济与设施[edit]
耕地种水稻和蔬菜。改革开放后，村民在浅海滩涂上吊养太平洋牡蛎，俗称日本大蚝。村中于20世纪70年代开挖一条长2公里的排灌渠，2000年加宽加深。村内道路可通汽车，连接霞美与下蔡林场之间的公路。[1]
