历史沿革[edit]
清代此地属九都的桥头保。民国29年（1940年）归埭头保，民国33年（1944年）埭头一带改属杜浔区的后姚乡。[2]
1956年，后姚与城里、路打合并为山东乡；1958年9月设杜浔公社后姚大队。[2]
姓氏与宗祠[edit]
后姚社原为姚姓聚居，村中有姚氏宗祠明远堂。下张社早先为张姓所居，现为林姓与洪姓共居。[2]
经济与教育[edit]
作物有水稻、番薯、花生、蔬菜与荔枝，农业仍是主要生计，外出务工者较多。[2]
后姚小学设在下张社。[2]
