前湖村位于赤湖镇境内，村名的来历是村中原有一湖，村庄位于赤湖的前面。[1]

前湖村于2022年12月获「2022年福建省卫生村」称号，命名单位为福建省爱国卫生运动委员会。2024年6月，村入选「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期，前湖属赤湖乡下的前湖保。新中国初期设前湖乡，属第六区赤湖区；1955年12月并入另一个乡，1958年9月成立前湖大队，1984年改为前湖村委会。[2]
