狮头村位于漳浦县旧镇镇南部海滨，村落坐落在狮山南麓，故名狮头，又写作西头。村中以黄姓为主，1984年9月由狮头大队改为狮头村，辖狮头、山前两个自然村，全村1257户，4985人。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

狮头黄姓的始祖均助，其父宽夫原居港尾浦东，浦东在元末遭倭寇侵扰后，宽夫把地名改为浦西，并在《谱序》中嘱咐后人「以后黄姓分居地以西字命名」，村名因此又写作西头。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地归七都黄家寨的上保；民国时期为旧镇镇的狮头保。新中国初期旧镇区设狮头乡，辖域含西屿；公社化后改设旧镇公社狮头大队。1974年起围垦盐田，1982年5月竣工，此后改作海水养殖基地。[2]

姓氏与开基[edit]

黄姓在村中聚居。开基祖均助系黄材的玄孙；黄材原是南宋末年护从闽冲郡王赵若和的侍臣，崖山战败后随他逃到浦东。元明之交，他们在旧镇附近建「隆兴寨」抗击元军，后受明太祖委派担任「镇宦」，遂定居狮头开基。[2]

军事建筑[edit]

明代嘉靖年间，村中建堡防御倭寇，称狮头堡；清代的县志分别称之为「黄家寨」「狮头土堡」与「狮头城」。[2]

文物古迹[edit]

村中供奉广惠尊王与太保公的，是狮头王公庙；黄氏大祖祠也在村内。[2]
