地名由来与位置[edit]
村民多来自旧时的玉溪保，取其聚居之意，定名玉厝，寓意吉祥。村东与秦溪、郭厝两村毗连，西至甘林村的溪头社，南隔鹿溪与梅宅村相望，北与石桥村接壤。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
民国29年村属旧镇镇玉溪保，民国33年并入秦溪保。新中国初期归第四区前溪乡；1956年第四区改为旧镇区，前溪乡随之改归旧镇镇。1964年9月设玉厝大队，1984年改为玉厝村。[1][2]
姓氏[edit]
玉厝社以王姓为主，由秦溪分传而来，秦溪一族则出自官浔镇康庄村（旧称横口）；赵姓亦有少数，由甘林分来。黄厝社为黄姓聚居地，祖籍东龙。[2]
民俗与古迹[edit]
村东北的清德宫供奉开漳圣王与玄天上帝，农历三月初三为玄天上帝诞辰。清末，村民王大松挑着清德宫的玄天上帝微型神像赴台湾，定居嘉义番仔沟，当地信士后集资建成龙安宫，由王氏后裔世代管理。1998年2月，王大松的后裔率信士回玉厝寻根，修缮了庙埕与神像。[2]
