梅竹村位于漳浦县旧镇镇西南部，在鹿溪下游西南岸，是一个革命老区村。村名原为苦竹，后由梅宅与芳竹合并，各取一字而成。全村708户，2793人，下辖浯田、下宫、城内、坑里、中社、轧仔、油车七个自然村。[1][2]
地名由来[edit]
村名原作苦竹，后因芳竹与梅宅合并，取梅宅的「梅」字和芳竹的「竹」字组成梅竹。[2]
位置与交通[edit]
村庄北面隔鹿溪与甘林村相望，东面与梅宅村相邻。西面以水光岩为界与绥安镇后港村相接，南面以岩顶山（海拔338米）为界与霞美镇巷内村相连。2005年修成一条连接漳浦、旧镇、霞美的水泥路，其中梅竹村段长4.2公里。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
民国时期村属甘林保，民国三十二年随甘林保归旧镇镇管辖，民国三十三年另设苦竹保。新中国初期建梅竹乡，1958年3月并入甘林乡，同年9月设旧镇公社梅竹大队，1984年9月改为梅竹村。[2]
革命历史[edit]
20世纪30年代，朱曼平、吴中坚等人曾在此一带领导革命工作。革命战争时期，村中有十三名青年加入地下党领导的游击队、自卫队与红三团等革命组织，其中蔡衍宗、何先同、洪水池等人牺牲，解放后均被追认为革命烈士。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
村中水光岩为观音佛祖庙，与漳浦鹿溪一带进士胡文耀的墓地同时修建，庙中供奉三尊观音像，每年农历九月十九日为观音诞辰，香火灵验。庙前可望见旗鼓山，为漳浦八景之一。[2]
村中有百年古松四棵，分别在浯田、城内与轧仔。[2]
