地名由来[edit]
明末郑姓迁居旧镇后，为防海盗侵扰，围筑了城墙。清初石柄陈姓迁至东城门外定居，于是有了城内、城外之分。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
民国时期村为旧镇镇东保。解放初归第四区旧镇镇管辖，1958年9月组成旧镇公社的城外大队，1984年9月设为城外村。[1][2]
渔业与港口[edit]
村内六成家庭以讨海为生，渔船有拖网船与流程作业船两类，滩涂养殖以虾、鳗、花蛤为主。[2]
村中设有对台贸易专用码头，台轮进港停靠频繁；过去也有不少大陆渔轮劳务人员在此登船赴台。[2]
城镇发展[edit]
因水路便利，城外村在明清时期即是旧镇最热闹的街区，后港尾至鱼仔街一带是内外商船的停泊点。民国二十一年前后，新福街、前街、后街与崎街陆续建成，商行云集，经营的货物往来闽南各港。[2]
公路通车后，旧镇商业中心逐步移至旧城村一带，城外村的渡船头仍保有旧镇水产品集散中心的地位。[2]
