历史沿革[edit]
解放初属第一区，后归东厦区的莆美乡。1958年改隶红旗公社。1961年，村从原有的社、队中析出，另设莆南大队，划归莆美公社。1984年，大队改为村民委员会。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
南山寺及南屏书院在本村，南山寺又称莆美岩，始建于明弘治年间，后多次重修。[1][3]
南山寺及南屏书院被列为福建省文物保护单位。[3]
