历史沿革[edit]
1960年成立莆东大队。1967年至1971年间改设莆东革命委员会，1972年改为莆东村。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
省级文物保护单位莆美堡跨在本村一带。这座堡寨修筑于明弘治十八年（1505年），用来抵御倭寇侵扰。[3]
村内还有南山寺、英济宫等文物。第三次全国文物普查时，村内的张氏宗祠群被列为重点文物保护点。[1]
