新林村是东园镇下辖的行政村，与港边村、东宝村、厚境村等相邻。村名由新圩、新厝、下林三处旧地名各取一字组合而成。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国末年，村地为海澄县峩山乡的新圩保。新中国成立之初划归第五区过田乡管辖，1959年归浮宫公社，设新林大队。[1]

1960年，村改隶龙海县的浮宫公社；次年归东园公社。1984年，村委会为东园乡的新林村委会，1993年改为东园镇新林村委会。[1]
