建制变迁[edit]
清乾隆初年，村子开始形成，归龙溪县二十八都的浒茂保管辖。民国28年12月分设金定前、金定后两保，隶属第六区乐群乡；民国36年改属浒茂乡的金定保。[2]
新中国成立初期这里是第四区金定乡，1955年划归城内区，1956年3月归平宁区金定乡。1958年隶属海鹰公社，1959年3月设为紫泥公社的金定大队。[2]
1962年独立成为一个大队。1984年建乡后称紫泥乡金定村，1992年撤乡建镇。村中共16个村民小组。[2]
姓氏与宗祠[edit]
顶寮林氏的开基人是康山四世林君彩，距今四百余年。[2]
陈姓于清乾隆初期迁入金定，连姓主要居住在下寮角落。[2]
顶寮角落的林氏祠堂正本堂，明末始建，1990年重修，祭祀的是康山四世祖林君彩。陈姓宗祠敦本堂始建于1917年，1990年再次修建，横匾为“颖川世泽”。连姓祠堂昭训堂1958年被拆，至今尚未重建。[2]
金定鸭[edit]
金定鸭原产于金定村，属麻鸭的一种，是传统的蛋鸭良种。[4]
村民历来养鸭。1998年后，全村的水田与河塘多改为鱼塘，养鱼、养虾与养鸭并举。[2]
教育[edit]
村里的金定小学始创于20世纪20年代，1987年建起三层教学楼。博雅地名网称，该校为龙海市级“文明学校”。[2]
