建制变迁[edit]
清乾隆年间，这里始有村社。民国28年属龙溪县乐群乡的新洋保与桃源保，民国36年改属浒茂乡的新洋保。[2][3]
新中国成立初属第四区的新桃洪乡，1952年改为新洋乡，1956年归平宁区金定乡的新洋高级社。1959年3月设紫泥公社新洋大队，1984年建乡后称紫泥乡新洋村，1992年撤乡建镇。[2]
姓氏与宗祠[edit]
林姓占全村八成以上的户数，钱姓次之，主要居住在新洋、草洪两个自然村，另有王姓、陈姓、杨姓散居各社。[2]
福如成是林氏宗祠，位于新洋港社。清嘉庆年间建造，文革期间被毁，2005年重新建成。祠堂坐北朝南，两进结构，祖龛内供奉林氏下世祖考妣的神位。[2]
宫庙与文物[edit]
新兴宫在新洋港社，主奉玄天上帝，清道光年间建成。百度百科还记载，新兴宫是第三次全国文物普查中登记在册的不可移动文物点。[2][3]
和兴宫位于草洪社，建于清咸丰年间，主奉广济祖师。凤峨宫位于金峨头社，建于清道光年间，主奉玄天上帝与太师公。天兴宫位于关武刀社，建于民国三十年，2002年倒塌，次年重建。吉贝宫在吉贝社，清宣统二年建成，供奉玄天上帝。[2]
生计与教育[edit]
村民以农业为主，种水稻、香蕉，并养殖鱼、虾、鸭，栽培蘑菇和草菇。村里有机砖厂，另有400多人外出务工。[2]
村中有新洋小学，设14个班级。[2]
