建制变迁[edit]
清乾隆年间，这里属龙溪县二十八都的乌礁保。民国28年改属龙溪县第六区，民国36年为乌礁乡下的南书保。[2]
解放初期，南书归第四区锦田乡管辖。1959年起隶属紫泥公社锦田大队，1961年析出，单独设南书大队，其后数度合并分设。1984年建乡后称紫泥乡南书村，1992年撤乡建镇。[2]
姓氏与居住[edit]
过社以姚姓为多，港西以林姓为多，另有黄、王、刘、陈等姓散居。[2]
村落由过社的新路、西头、加弄、田头四处，以及港西角落共同组成。[2]
文物古迹[edit]
乌礁讲书里慈济宫位于大港西的讲书社，始建于明代弘治乙卯（1495年）。清代乾隆年间曾经重修；1988年重修正殿，1993年又修葺前殿与东西两厩厅。[2]
宫庙坐北朝南，前后两进的格局中，正殿、前殿和东西两厩围成一个院落。[2]
生活与经济[edit]
村里有锦江水产批发市场，村民中开店、跑运输的人家较多，也有不少人外出经商或务工。[2]
2000年全村用上了自来水。村中育英楼、育贤楼两幢教学楼并立，另有幼儿园数所。[2]
