水头村是颜厝镇下辖的行政村。村名取自地势：九龙江流到镇头宫象把咀一带时河道收窄，村落就坐落在这段水道收窄之处。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1939年，村地归龙溪县颜潮乡水头保管辖。此后经1950年划入龙溪县第一区白云乡等变动，1993年起，村委会称龙海市颜厝镇水头村委会。[1]
