长边村是颜厝镇下辖的行政村。村庄因池塘多而建于塘边，起初名为塘边，后因“长边”与“塘边”读音相近，遂以长边为名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1939年，村地属龙溪县颜潮乡的长边保。新中国成立初期改属龙溪县第一区白云乡，1959年设颜厝公社长边大队。[1]
1960年并县后归龙海县颜厝公社，1984年改为颜厝乡长边村委会。1992年颜厝乡改设为镇，1993年村委会改称龙海市颜厝镇长边村委会，此名沿用至今。[1]
