村中荔枝、龙眼和花卉盆景较为突出，村里果树与花卉并举，因此有花果之乡的称呼。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村委会称谓：1984年时为龙海县九湖乡田墘村委会，1993年起为龙海市九湖镇田墘村委会。[1] 1960年并县后称龙海县九湖公社田墘大队；1959年3月属九湖公社，1958年9月属先锋公社，1956年属古县区蔡坑乡，新中国成立初期隶属第一区田墘乡，1947年则是龙溪县古南乡田墘保。[1]
